DISTRIBUTION: This species is common and widely distributed throughout the British Isles.

 

WING SPAN: 37mm to 39mm.             BODY LENGTH: 36mm to 37mm .             

 

FLIGHT PERIOD: This species emerges as early as late April, or early May and is on the wing through to about late August, or early September.

LARVAL PERIOD: Eggs are laid into vegetation on the surface, from mated pairs flying in tandem.

HABITAT: Habitats are most places with still, or flowing water.

FOOD: Various other water borne invertebrates and fish fry.

 

STATUS: Resident.    SIMILAR SPECIES: There are other similar damselflies.
