DISTRIBUTION: Pyrochroa Serraticornis is found throughout the British Isles. The Cardinal beetle is not a single species, but in fact a small group of beetles.

 

 

LENGTH: 18mm to 21mm.                                         STATUS: Resident.

 

FLIGHT PERIOD: May through into July.             LARVAL PERIOD: No data.

 

HABITAT:  These beetles inhabit many kinds of places with long grass and lush vegetation.

 

FOOD PLANT/S: They feed on other insects.

 

SIMILAR SPECIES: The Lily Beetle (Pyrochroa Coccinae) is similar.
