DISTRIBUTION: This local, but widely distributed in England as far north as Lancashire and Northumberland. It is locally common in Ireland, and is found in a couple of area's in Scotland.

 

WING SPAN: 10mm to12mm.                                   STATUS: Resident.

         

FLIGHT PERIOD: These moths are single brooded, and are on the wing in July.

LARVAL PERIOD: The caterpillars can be found in May and June, the eggs over winter.

HABITAT: Sand lands, dunes and lowland heaths.

 

FOOD PLANT/S:  Sallow and Willows, living in the spun terminal shoots.

 

SIMILAR SPECIES: Some members of the pammene genus are similar.
