DISTRIBUTION: This moth  is fairly common through out most of the British Isles.

 

WING SPAN: 13mm to 15mm.                                STATUS: Resident.

      

FLIGHT PERIOD: These moths are on the wing during June and July, and are attracted to light.

LARVAL PERIOD: Caterpillars can be found from mid summer to early autumn

HABITAT: They inhabit many area's with tree's and shrubs, including gardens and parks.

FOOD PLANT/S: Various shrubs and tree's, including Blackthorn and Hawthorn.

 

SIMILAR SPECIES: This moth is fairly east to identify from its pattern, and tufts of whitish scales near the black spots, and patches.
